Two yellow hats

"Can I borrow your hat?" asked YC early this morning as we added warm layers in preparation for our walk.

It is a hat that has been all over the world - the last of five made so that wearers could be seen from a distance (and wouldn't get lost in crowds). So she wore THE hat and I wore another rather orangey-yellow one.

And Five walkers headed to the park, crunching through frosty grass and fallen leaves.

It was early enough to see the shooting stars promised by scientists.  It was so cloudy that we only saw the waning moon. (earlier wanderers told me they had seen something - before the clouds moved in).

The frost glittered under the streetlamps. Who needed shooting stars?

The pups were excited. They were off the double lead and could move independently. They also had a bigger audience...more freedome and more ways to get tangled? PERFECT!

I described different markers along the way to YC.  ("This was where the cat man lived. The tuxedo cat used to sit here waiting for him. It was terribly sad." "Paddy will not walk next to the wall and still avoids the storm drain openings. Watch."  "That guy who just ran by is running man.")

Running man was the only "other" we saw along the way.

It was a crisp, cold, foggy breathed morning with glitter all around - the perfect walk to end YC's trip home and to warm everyone up for this day.

Scruff was distracted and would not relinquish his collar full of lights. Perhaps he enjoyed being the one seen. He did cooperate by the time the sun came up and the lights became unnecessary.

The hat.
