Fog

We dressed for the fog - chilly damp darkness requires a jacket and lights (LIGHTS not tights). Dogs were glowing red and flashing multiple colors (Scruffy was so proud of his vivid red collar). I had my hat light blinking off and on - red.

DH was walking with us as he slept too late to run. He was a few feet behind the crowd drinking his morning coffee. Because we were late we noted the traffic was double our usual early morning handful.  And there was also the issue of a foggy start for the morning rush so we were careful.

At the big intersection (Mohawk dog lives on the south-east corner) we paused. We were traveling west to east. The big SUV stopped on the north was apparently watching for motorized cross traffic. It started across the intersection as we were mid-stride half-way to the other side when we heard the engine and yelled and shook our fists and it stopped again, surprised to see these "Christmas lit" creatures appearing out of the foggy darkness. What a maroon!*

Our near-death experience got our blood flowing and we hustled down the street, MUCH more careful at the intersections (and anytime we saw white SUVs - just saying).

The park was a strange and mysterious place. The sunrise was delayed so birds sang no morning songs.

The park is so strange in the fog.

We spied Escalade man running alone along the paths.

Everyone is wearing one form of light or another.

The trees seemed to reach out for us - like something from a scary movie.

Trees are ominous

The woods glowed red from the lights across the river. We decided not to travel down those paths.

We won't walk into the woods.

We greeted running man on his way into the park, out of the park, and when he passed us one last time as we all headed back up the hill. Mohawk dog's gang were out, a barking trio as we walked by.

DH walked ahead to change the pups' water and he was walking in the far gate when Paddy, Scruffy and I got home. Both dogs alerted and Paddy started to howl. "Someone" was in the yard! Then they heard his voice and knew all was well.
