DH joined us on the walk today. We have been testing cold weather wear. It took almost 20 minutes to "layer up" and then gather all the dog gear. [I was only partially successful - it was a 3 layer day and I had only two in places.]
The walk was cold (it is 21 degrees outside), dark, and quiet. The moon was a sliver, but we could see the shadow across the remainder. Even the moon looked cold.
The stars were out and echoed in the frost glinting in the grass.
We thought we might see some other creature about, but we only passed running man (bundled against the weather).
On our way home one school bus rushed past while another stopped, lights flashing. It loaded the little one who used to call to us from his porch. Am I wrong to think that it is obscene that children are boarding the school bus at 6:20 a.m.? How can that benefit their success in school? We are going to get you up way too early so that you are tired all day. NOW, try learning.
My face is starting to thaw now. It is time to switch walking for work clothes and move towards the end of this week.
