What if? A Thanksgiving walk - with dogs...

What If?

What if our religion was each other?
If our practice was our life?
If prayer was our words?
What if the Temple was the Earth?
If forests were our church?
If holy water-the rivers, lakes and oceans?
What if meditation was our relationships?
If the Teacher was life?
If wisdom was self-knowledge?
If love was the center of our being

Happy dogs ready to run wild - Ruby, Hugo, Paddy and Scruffy.

What if the Temple was the Earth?

All over the prairie we saw next year's bluebonnet plants waiting.

The dewberry (?) vines were beautiful green and purple.

This low green plant covered the floor of the woods.

Fire ant mounds warned us as we walked along

Gnarled old tree trunk.

And another.

Look close. A big beetle was hiding from us.

A few spider webs remain atop the dried weeds.
The prairie
Another view of the prairie grass with the tree-line behind.

Paddy and Scruffy in the dry-ish creek bed.

Dry diablo (goldenrod-yuck)

Lovies come running

Dried liatris
More dried weeds - beautiful

If forests were our church?

Three trunks braid into one tree.
Part of the woods/brambles are almost impassible, but beautiful.
Yellow leaves haven't fallen in this part of the woods.
Another stunning stand of trees.
Birds were fluttering around the branches of the bois d'arc.
Red leaves against the sky.
Stanley dawdling as the sun started to drop below the cedars. [He never wants to go home, but this time tried to get in my car.]
The woods on either side of the creek.
Love the remaining color in the woods.

If holy water-the rivers, lakes and oceans?

The creek continues to dry up, but - for now - provides a watering hole for the animals of the wildlife area

The far bank shows layers of stone.

Scruffy enjoying a run through the creek.

One last look at the creek as we headed away.

If love was the center of our being

It is as if Scruffy is smiling with delight.

TDW rests while Ruby finds something exciting.
A look of pure love.
