Bring on the Bees!

Spring break is almost upon us. And it seems to be spring.* The Redbud and wild plums are blooming. Dandelions bloom in most yards. My hedge has tiny blooms.

And the bees are here.

Concern over hive decline and diminishing numbers of pollinators has me ever on the look-out for them.

On one of our short walks this week, Zelda and I found a few...

Pittosporum blossom (I planted variegated, but here is the single colored leaved).
Is this a big carpenter bee**? If so, it's not much of a pollinator.
It was flying around and we had a bit of a "stare down."
Honeybee. Many of us are keeping our yards less "manicured" to feed the bees. Right.

NOTES:

* The pecans have not budded out yet. There is still a possibility of a freeze.
