What happened to the cool weather?

An unexpected event will soon make your life more exciting.
~ Message in a fortune cookie

The summer heat broke over the weekend and it was cool(ish) for three days. But by Tuesday it was warm and humid again. [Yes, we didn't get any of the cool.]

We did get up in time to hike down to the park and back this morning, cool or no.*

1. It rained while we were gone. The evidence was all around us - yards almost glowing green and rain lilies blooming in the yards - white blossoms slowly nodding in the occasional light breeze.

2. There is a baby at the house that once belonged to the cat man and then to Jane, the artist. [We know this because there is a beautiful bright child seat/walker/play thing on the porch where Jane's rocker once rested.]

3. One neighbor has a T-bird parked in the drive. The vehicle has seen better days. Its condition speaks to a wild life - wild ride.

A fixer upper.

The mark of the T-bird

4. Two dobermans live a block down. Their owner thinks they can be contained by a child gate. We have serious doubts.

5. The pothole/sink hole was fixed while we were away.

6. The pecan harvest should be amazing as trees are loaded with nuts.**

7. Our pups will bark the entire time the cable guy is parked at the edge of our property as evidenced when we arrived home to find the cable guy next door, but parked close enough for the dogs to see.

8. Once you get back in the habit of picking up litter, it is hard to stop.

9.  The restrooms in the park were locked.

NOTES:

* The humidity got us. We were drenched from the walk back...
** Except at our house where a crazy squirrel has taken a bite and then dropped the remaining green nut down on our cars.
