It is with the reading of books
the same as with looking at pictures;
one must,
without doubt,
without hesitations,
with assurance,
admire
what is beautiful.
~ Vincent van Gogh
DH and I had hunted down Patrick Dougherty's (part of his Stickworks series) in Pease Park a few weeks ago. JRF is an artist and he saw Dougherty's Shindig at the Renwick Gallery in D.C. a couple of years ago so it made sense to visit this new work.
From the parking lot, it isn't too impressive. It's more a question mark. |
As you get closer the seems to expand. |
Once inside the walls and doors, windows and passages make you feel a bit like you've stepped in another world. |
Spiders are starting to make a home. |
Detail of spider web/hammock. |
Okay. I know I wrote about this work before, but I do love it. |
Wandering through this bookstore is always fun. |
Yes, we did! |
DH bellies up to the bar! |
Music from such an interesting group. |
Mountain Laurels drew masses of pollinators to the parking lot. |
Then we hit the airport with our masses of luggage. We were prepared for everything, except bears. We hoped the bears would sleep a little longer.
How much gear do three people need for a week? |
A lot, it seems... |
We packed and repacked and still were entirely too prepared...next time we will do better. |
